A clean and a sparkling bathroom is undoubtedly desirable. Keeping the bathroom clean does not only give a pleasant feeler but it is important for health reasons too, as one relies on the bathroom for self-cleanliness. Due to moisture, steam and grime, bathrooms are more prone to bacteria, fungus and germs. If the bathroom is not cleaned properly it gives way to unwanted odour also, which could be quite disgusting to the senses. There are some areas of the bathroom cleaning, you need to attend to on a daily basis and for others it is advised to deep clean it in every one to two weeks depending on the frequency of its usage to prevent mildew and bacteria buildup. The areas to clean on a daily basis are faucets, WC’s, sinks, urinals etc. and the areas which have to attended on a weekly or a fortnightly basis are showers, deep cleaning the floor and wall tiles, ceilings etc.

Taking care of these little things can keep your luxury bathroom sparkly and dirt free:

  • Ensure that you wipe up any spills or splatters on the mirror, keep the sink and countertops dry to avoid formation of stains.
  • To get rid of hard-water deposits on faucets and showers, scrub it with a mixture of dishwashing liquid and vinegar. This would ensure that the taps and showers don’t only keep shining but there is a better flow of water too.
  • If you have brass fixtures in your bathroom, they become tarnished soon if not looked after properly. Make a paste of soda bicarbonate and lemon juice and scrub the fixtures lightly and leave for a few minutes and wipe off with a clean cloth to achieve a shiny tap.
  • Make sure that the toilet is cleaned regularly; sprinkle the toilet cleaning agents available in the market in your WC and urinals, leave for a few minutes and scrub properly for shining, germ free toilet.
  • Do not forget the wipe the toilet seat and outside of the toilet with an all purpose cleaner and disinfectant.
  • Mop your bathroom floor daily with the help of a cleaning solution in a bucket and wipe the floor dry after moping to avoid any water stains developing on the floors.
  • Empty the bathroom dustbins every day to avoid any clutter and bacteria formation.
  • You could also dry vacuum the bathroom, bathrugs and powder room for picking hair and other debris from the floor.

Deep Cleaning the Bathroom

The regular cleaning of the bathroom space would make it easier to do the task of deep cleaning, which should be attended to every week or fortnight. These simple yet effective points would definitely bring a sparkle to your bathroom and would give you an instant gratification of mastering the skill.

  • Empty your bathroom before you go on the cleaning mission, this would also help you to get rid of unnecessary clutter like empty bottles and all the bathroom shelves would be devoid of any stuff for you easily attend to every nook and corner.
  • Clean all the shelves thoroughly for any dust particles. Ensure to dust off the shelves with a dry cloth and then wipe with a moist micro fiber and finish cleaning with a clean dry cloth.
  • The exhaust and the ceiling fans gather the dust over a period and due to high humidity level in the bathroom it gets stuck on them. Use a vacuum cleaner to dislodge the dust particles and then wipe them with soap and water mixture to remove the sticky grime. To finish wipe with damp cloth and then wipe dry.
  • The bathroom ceilings also gather an extraordinary amount of dust. You could vacuum all the dust from the ceiling or dust the ceilings with the help of an extension duster. This would remove the cobwebs too, if there are any.
  • Bathroom walls and floors comes the next. To deep clean them try to vacuum them first as that would take care of the dust and the grout. Second step is to deep clean the bathroom wall and floor tiles by dipping the mop in the diluted tile cleaner agent (use only recommended cleaner by your tile manufacturer) and wipe the floor and walls. For any stubborn stains use the grout brush gently to tackle and remove stains. Wipe with a clean dry microfiber to finish.
  • Next comes the cleaning of glass shower doors to remove the water stains formed over a period of time. The constant use of water and soap forms spots on the glass doors, bathtubs etc. Spray all purpose cleaning agent on these surfaces and let it rest there for a while. After a while scrub the shower glass and bath tub with a microfiber till you feel that the surface appears clean. If you still see some stains, repeat the procedure, once done wipe with a clean dry cloth.
  • Clear the clogged showerhead, use a mixture of dishwashing agent and vinegar with a tooth brush and then wipe it off with damp cloth.
  • Make a paste of baking soda and water and put in and outside the bathtub, toilet bowl and wash basin. Wipe after 15 minutes with a microfiber.
  • Do not forget to vacuum the light fixtures of your bathroom.
  • Rearrange your toiletries after cleaning and wiping them dry. This would remove all the dust it has gathered in time.
  • Last but not the least wash off the bathroom rugs and curtains and replace them once dried.
  • Spray your bathroom with a freshener. You could also place some coffee beans or an indoor plant which sucks the bad odor. This would keep the bathroom fresh and smelling good.
  • All these important points would make way for a happy, clean luxurious bathroom. Your personal happiness would reduce the stress levels and improve your mental, physical health and the look of your bathroom.
